Success at AACTFest 2017!
March 16-19, in Marshalltown, we competed with six other community theaters: Marshalltown Community Theatre, Newton Community Theatre, Ankeny Community Theatre, Webster City Community Theatre, The Wilson Performing Arts Center, and the New Minowa Players. We were honored to be chosen as an alternate for the regional competition, which will be held in Brainerd, MN on April 27-30. Awards were given out for areas of excellence in the one act competition, and our very own Sam Reed was honored as Outstanding Actress for her role as Echo Wesbrook! We received excellent feedback from the adjudicators, and many compliments from our peers. One of the most rewarding aspects of this competition is checking our quality against that of the rest of the state. Community theatre in Iowa, by and large, is high quality and full of individuals who are dedicated to missions very similar to ours: "To provide quality amateur theatrical productions for the Tri-State area by encouraging members of the surrounding communities to express their creative abilities in all aspects of live theatre." Eleemosynary will also be performed at the Keokuk Rocks the Arts Festival, in June. See you at the theater!
